World Tour Finals return to London

So of course the World Tour Finals (aka Masters Cup) returned to London's 02 Arena on Sunday, where the top 8 Singles and Doubles players compete. So back I go for more live tennis and hopefully more good photos to share!

Indoors at Tennis without a Photo Pass makes for a challenge for any photographer, which is why I'm very happy with how the following photo came out yesterday (resulting in me rushing to share "hot off the press" from yesterday's Berdych/Djokovic match). Hope you like it.

Inspiration

Hello, once again I must start my blog entry with an apology for lack of updates. I have been busy with final year Degree work. However, over the Summer I did find time to try out my new SLR at Tennis events, with some quite successful outcomes I hope to share here over the coming months.

Some inspiration in the meantime, I took this picture of Paul-Henri Mathieu at Wimbledon this year, during his five set classic battle with Mikhail Youzhny. I love this picture because it shows great passion and will to succeed (he overcame a 2 set to 1 and a double break in the 5th to pull out victory). I love the fire in Mathieu's eyes, something I have always seen in him (as one of my favourite players) and hope I'm communicating with you, my audience. Mathieu is a player often criticised for his mental fragilities on a Tennis court, so I aim to demonstrate this player's huge fight and desire, which I admire so much and is part of why I support him.

Mixed news

Looks like the Rotterdam tournament is off unfortunately, so probably next Tennis stop for me is Roland Garros, only 3 and a half months to go and I already bought tickets. Looking forward to it, Grand Slams are like the ultimate playground of tennis and I missed going last year, even whilst I prefer smaller events for good Photography.

Might fit in a mini trip to Roma or Monte Carlo or a random European challenger event, timetable permitting- we'll see how it goes, since waiting over 3 months more for tennis will be hard for me! :p

The good news is I finally bought an SLR camera (the Nikon D60) so hopefully I will be able to take my Tennis Photography even more seriously this year...roll on Summer.
